Case Study : Queens Riverside Activation

Vertical Place Making

The Place

The Queens Riverside precinct is one of Perth’s transformational projects – strengthening the city’s important east west connection. Located on the site of former Metrobus Depot, bordered by Hay Street and Adelaide Terrace, Queens Riverside is a masterplanned development built by Frasers Property that combines apartments and townhouses, commercial space, a new retail precinct and a luxurious apartment hotel.

Queens Riverside has the potential to elevate the Perth experience and perception of apartment life from “living in a building”, to being “part of a place”.  Building on the critical mass of residential development and its emerging community, Frasers Property sought to inject life and activity into the precinct, build social networks amongst purchasers and residents and begin to establish Queens as a local destination.

Our Role

Place Match developed a Place Making Plan which sought to consolidate Queens Riverside as a united neighbourhood precinct. This Plan was developed in the context of supporting apartment sales and general investment attraction, as well as overall precinct performance including marketing, stakeholder relationships and place management.  Place Match:

  • Defined the place vision and values through a facilitated workshops
  • Implemented a purchaser and resident engagement program
  • Delivered the strategic place making plan including a 12 month implementation plan for programming and activation.

Outcomes

With a clear vision established, implementation of the place making plan is now underway and together with Frasers Property, Place Match is delivering a range of programming and activation initiatives, from exercise classes and social clubs, to a community street festival for Chinese New Year.

Deliverables:
  • Place audit
  • Community Engagement
  • Visioning
  • Place Planning
