Activating the Stockland Baldivis Shopping Centre

The Place

As Australia’s largest diversified property group, Stockland is leading the way for change in the retail industry and implementing a place-based approach for its Baldivis Shopping Centre.

Located in one of the fastest growing region in Western Australia, a big vision is in place to transform it into a community-focused town centre and first-class shopping, entertainment and dining destination through a $116 million redevelopment and expansion of the existing Centre.

Our Role

Place Match was appointed by Stockland to lead place visioning and activation for the Centre expansion to reposition it as a regional town centre and welcoming place for people to share experience and celebrate their local community.

Our role included:

  • Community and stakeholder engagement
  • A comprehensive place and user needs analysis
  • Delivering a retail activation workshop to define the place vision
  • Defining the visitor offer
  • Creating a Place Activation Plan to deliver quick wins with maximum impact.

Outcomes

A number of quick wins identified in the Place Activation Plan are already being put in place, including the Centre’s inaugural Public Art piece – an iconic urban mural.

The Place Activation Plan will continue to guide Stockland with transforming the Centre into a much loved destination for the local community.
