Tourism and visitor development in Armadale

The Place

The Armadale region extends across the coastal plains, foothills and the pristine Perth Hills, and is experiencing rapid transformation and considerable population growth. With just a train ride or 30 minute drive from the Perth city centre, the region provides an active and beautiful urban city centre for visitors, residents and workers alike.

Some of Perth’s finest natural and urban assets are within the area, but its tourism products and experiences need to diversity and grow in order to improve visitation, community vitality and asssit in sustaining the local economy for the region's future.

Our Role

The City of Armadale recognises the region’s potential and that it is an opportunistic time to leverage its growth and further its economic development through developing the tourism industry and improving visitor experiences.   

With the City of Armadale, industry and key stakeholders input, we developed a Tourism Destination Strategy that provides the necessary framework to plan, develop and communicate the region’s tourism experiences over the next five years (2014-2019).


The Armadale Tourism Destination Strategy and Action Plan will guide the City to:

  • Challenge misconceptions about the Armadale region
  • Target local audiences and key target markets
  • Provide ways to improve vibrancy and visitor experiences in the city centre
  • Assist with marketing the region’s key assets, attractions, and experiences
  • Leverage the region’s existing tourism product and attractions to build a diverse and unique destination
  • Guide key focus areas for local industry development, including diversifying product and providing professional development for local operators to grow their business.
